1. Technology Packed Emjoi Emagine AP-18 Epilator With 72 Tweezers

emjoi emagine ap18
Emjoi AP-18 Emagine Epilator

One of the most popular and well-reviewed epilators from Emjoi is the Emagine AP-18.

What’s so special you might well ask? The answer is a whopping 72 tweezers AND patented technology. Notably, it features more than one patent.

3 Disc Tweezer System

To begin with, this epilator has a 3 disc tweezer system which is important to the task of removing hair from the root. It is equally important to it’s capability for catching all kinds of hair from coarse to fine and of varying lengths.  More tweezers mean more hair plucked during each pass, saving time overall.  In addition, it has a dual opposing head which means it rotates in opposite directions, covering more surface area per pass. The result is faster epilation.

Pain Reduction Technology

Glide Technology – another patented process helps the tweezer discs to move over the skin easily and with less irritation resulting in a more comfortable hair removal experience. Something we took note of while researching this epilator was that people who had used different epilators in the past noticed that there was indeed less pain with this device.

What’s In the Box

  • Emjoi Emagine AP-18
  • Worldwide power cord (110v / 240v)
  • Cleaning brush

PRO’S

  • Multi-patented device
  • Suitable to use on all body areas, legs, arms, bikini line, face
  • Fast epilation with 72 tweezers
  • Pain reduction with Glide technology
  • Thorough due to the construction of the dual opposed head
  • Silver Ion Technology provides antimicrobial protection
  • Corded – giving you full power consistently
  • Worldwide power cord 110v and 240v – no need to worry when you travel

CON’S

  • No light – harder to see where you are going
  • Plastic gears – a concern people had with regard to durability
  • Noisy – all epilators make some noise but this is a little more so than others
  • Can be used on the face but better options available if facial hair is your priority
  • No sensitive cap

Bottom Line

This is a good, solid epilator and a great choice for people with sensitive skin due to the silver ion technology. This provides protection against microorganisms such as bacteria.  It is bigger than other Emjoi epilators but is still easy to handle.  The high number of tweezers makes this a great choice for leg hair removal where you need something that will not take all day.  Epilation takes more time than shaving especially when first starting. But once you use an epilator a few times, the process gets a lot faster.

You can use this epilator on all areas but if you are looking for something to remove facial hair specifically – then do not buy this epilator. You can use it on the upper lip and chin as recommended by the company and people do use it on the face, but for all-over facial hair removal or that annoying peach fuzz, there are better options out there. For the best results, something like the Emjoi Epi Slim 18 would be a better option.

The Emagine is a corded epilator but there is now a cordless model available as well as a device suitable for men.  It comes with a dual power cord so you can use this epilator with 110V or 240V – handy if you need it for vacation or if you travel frequently.

2. Emjoi eRase 60 Disc 2-in-1 Epilator – Small But Compact

emjoi erase 60 epilator
Emjoi eRase e60

The Emjoi eRase 60 is a small, cute looking epilator and actually one of Emjoi’s most popular models.  But don’t let the size fool you.  Although it’s small, the head itself which is the dual opposed head, synonomous with Emjoi epilators, has 60 tweezers and more tweezers mean a reduction in the time it takes to epilate which is always good news.

This is lightweight, compact and a good size to hold in your hand easily. It does make noise and if you’ve never used an epilator before, you might think it’s loud. Even so, it’s not as loud as some of the other epilators on the market, including the Emjoi Emagine 18.

What’s In the Box

  • Epilator unit
  • Storage pouch
  • Cleaning brush
  • Sensitive attachment
  • Shaver / trimmer

Some of the other Emjoi epilators come with just the basic sensitive head but the eRase 60 has a really handy shaver/trimmer attachment.

There’s no need to buy a separate device – you can easily trim hair to a suitable length for epilation, especially if you don’t epilate regularly. You’ll find less discomfort when hair is shorter as epilating longer hair hurts more! This is also handy to have for trimming areas that you might not want to epilate.

This model is available without the shaver attachment depending on where you shop. It costs slightly less than the 2-in-1 model above but more importantly, if you want the shaver – make sure you get the 2-in-1 version.

The Emjoi e60 epilator comes in a range of color options also which is cool.

PRO’S

  • Multi-patented device just like several of the other Emjoi epilators
  • Suitable for use everywhere – arms, legs, underarms, bikini line and face
  • Fast epilation with 60 disc tweezers
  • Dual opposed head designed to reduce the pain of epilation by keeping the skin taut
  • Shaver/trimmer attachment helps to keep hair at a good length for epilation
  • Corded – doesn’t matter how long it takes, you won’t run out of charge with full power consistently
  • Sensitive attachment which covers some of the tweezers when epilating the face or bikini line
  • Removes hair as short as 0.3mm at the root
  • A great value for money device

CON’S

  • Must be plugged in to use
  • No light

Bottom Line – Who is This For?

This is a great epilator for anyone, either someone new to epilation or similarly, someone used to the process. It’s a neat, compact device and in contrast to the Caress or eMagine, it’s smaller. With 60 disc tweezers however, it does a great job of removing hair. It is important to remember that hair grows in all directions. With this in mind, no matter which epilator you use, not all of your hair will be removed in one pass.

The fact that this is corded is a plus in my opinion as you have a continual strong power source and if you are just starting with epilation – you might find that it takes you some time to get used to it. While cordless epilators are popular, the downside is that if the charge runs out, you’ll need to wait until the unit charges fully again in order to carry on which can be a bit of a pain. If you have a lot of hair on your legs, for example, it could take you quite a while to epilate both legs – the charge from a cordless unit usually lasts 30-40 minutes. The eRase e60 epilator is very affordable and offers great value for money – especially as it doubles as a shaver/trimmer.

3. Best Emjoi Epilator For The Face – Epi Slim + e18 Epilator – 18 Tweezers

emjoi sip slim epilator
Emjoi Epi Slim Epilator

The Emjoi Epi Slim – also known as e18 or eRase 18 is a small, neat epilator.

It has 18 tweezers set in the patented 3 disc system for which Emjoi are well renowned. Moreover, it has the skin glide technology which helps the tweezers to skate gently over the skin stretching it out to make the process of removing hair less painful.  The model is the AP14LC where the previous version was the AP9LC with just 9 tweezers.

An important feature with this epilator is that it is battery operated, which of course has both advantages and disadvantages. It takes 2 AA batteries which are not supplied and it can be used to remove hair all over the body according to Emjoi.

What’s In the Box

  • Epi Slim e18
  • Cleaning brush

PRO’S

  • Portability – take it anywhere, perfect for vacation
  • Small – doesn’t take up much space
  • Ideal for facial hair with the small head and shape
  • Suitable for the whole body but the design is perfect for bikini line, armpits and face
  • Lightweight
  • No cord to deal with
  • Good value for money
  • Safety switch

CON’S

  • Battery operated
  • Smaller head – can be used all over the body but will take longer for larger body parts
  • No travel pouch

Bottom Line – How Well Does It Work

The reports on how well the Emjoi Epi Slim works are great overall – it is clearly a solid device and works very well according to the many reviews online.

Although it is advertised for both facial and body hair, only a small group of people appear to use it for all over body hair removal and it’s certainly easy to see why. The head is too small. Clearly, it would be quite a time-consuming task to epilate both legs, especially if you are new to epilating and have a lot of hair.

Hair regrowth does slow down when you use an epilator but nevertheless, it takes time.  A large majority used the epi slim specifically for facial hair and reported great success. It works well on the face as well as the upper lip and chin.  Additionally, it works well on arms and underarms which makes sense due to the size and shape of the device.

Furthermore, it appears to work better on finer hair as opposed to coarse hair for which a more powerful epilator would be better suited. It’s the perfect device to travel with because of the batteries since you won’t need to worry about the voltage or having to buy the right adapter.  It’s very handy to take on vacation for touching up and if you are solely using it for touching up, I could see how you could well use it for all areas including the legs. Rechargeable batteries are highly recommended for a more cost-effective solution if you are planning to use the Epi Slim e18 as your go-to device. Otherwise, you could certainly end up buying a lot.

4. Emjoi Soft Caress Epilator With 36 Gold Plated Tweezers

emjoi soft caress gold tweezers
Emjoi Soft Caress Epilator

The look of the Emjoi Soft Caress is different to the others. It is ergonomically designed with a soft grip feature, something the Emagine could use, surely, as it’s easy to hold. Devices that are constructed of hard, glossy plastic can be harder to hold especially if they can be used when wet.

Great For Sensitive Skin

This is a 36 tweezer disc epilator and the big difference with this one is that the discs are gold plated and hypoallergenic. Gold is considered a non-reactive metal and unlikely to cause a reaction meaning the Emjoi Soft Caress is well suited for anyone with sensitive skin. The gold plate is 24 karat, it looks cool and gives this epilator a more luxurious feel.

The Soft Caress is a corded epilator but there is also a cordless model available which is a little more expensive. It may be worth paying a little extra for it depending on your own personal preference. This epilator is suitable for the whole body but the company’s recommendation for facial hair is that “it removes “individual hair” from the upper lip and chin”. In spite of that, people do use it on their faces – some love it and some don’t.

If you are looking just for a facial epilator, the Epi Slim e18 might be a better option.  This one is perfectly suited however for underarms and bikini area due to the epilator’s curved shape.

What’s In the Box

  • Soft Caress Epilator
  • Cleaning brush
  • 110V Power Cord
  • Massaging attachment
  • Loofa for exfoliating
  • Travel pouch

PRO’S

  • Patented pain reduction technology
  • Gold plated 36 tweezer discs – hypoallergenic
  • Suitable for legs, underarms, bikini line
  • Soft grip – easy to hold
  • Massaging finger attachment for more comfort
  • Curved design to glide easily along the contours of the body
  • Corded epilator – continuous power

CON’S

  • Only suitable for 110V – if you plan on traveling with it or using it outside of North America, you will need to purchase an international power supply separately
  • One row of tweezers – not a dual opposed head
  • Must be plugged in to use

Bottom Line – Who is This For?

The Enjoi Soft Caress epilator is definitely a neat device.  It is easy to handle due to its size and soft grip feature. Additionally, it is easy to use.  It works everywhere to remove hair from legs, arms, bikini line, underarms and individual hair from the face.  People with both fine and coarse hair have used it successfully according to the many reviews online.

Nevertheless, it only has one row of tweezers. It is however, comparatively priced with the eRase 60 which has the dual opposed head and nearly double the number of tweezers.

This is great as a beginner epilator or for someone with average hair texture and sensitive skin.  For very thick or coarse hair, a model such as the Emagine or the eRase 60 might be more suitable as both have the double set of tweezer heads.  The Soft Caress does have a massaging finger and the edges of the head vibrate for a more comfortable and gentle experience and Emjoi epilators are known for their pain reduction technology.  The Emagine AP-18 has a worldwide power cord so you can take it anywhere, although it’s a little louder and the eRase 60 2-in-1 has a shaver attachment.  They are not all that different in price so make sure you know what you are getting before you purchase.

A Glimpse At Other Emjoi Epilators

The epilators mentioned above are the most popular ones right now.  Emjoi have a few other models but you might not come across them on all websites anymore.  Models change, lines get discontinued and sometimes you’ll find that certain ones might only have been available through particular resellers or on limited special offer promotions. I’ve mentioned them here in case you find something you’ve been looking for information on.

Emjoi Tweeze – Revised eRase e6 – Facial Epilator

emjoi tweeze
Emjoi Tweeze eRase 6

You can still find the Emjoi Tweeze available online through resellers. This is a long-shaped, battery-operated device with the well-known eRase Glide Technology.

It has 6 tweezers arranged in the patented 3 disc system for comfortable use and it was designed to solve the problem of single-hair tweezing, which I’m sure you’ll agree, takes forever! It’s small so you can use it with precision on the face where you need to have good control but I wouldn’t use it for brows.

The eRase e6 is the upgraded model of the Tweeze – it still has the 6 tweezers and the eRase Glide Technology where the hair is lifted and spread out for easier hair removal and is a battery operated device.

If you are looking solely for a facial epilator then you could consider this one – it’s also the cheapest epilator from Emjoi.

On the other hand, depending on your budget and the fact that you might want to epilate other body parts, you might want to check out the Emjoi Epi Slim with 3 times the number of tweezers and still competitively priced or indeed the eRase 60.

Emjoi Gently Silken AP-9PB Epilator: Rechargeable

emjoi gently silken epilator
Emjoi Gently Silken Epilator

The Gently Silken epilator has 18 tweezers so is comparable with the Emjoi Epi Slim e18 in terms of hair removing ability, but is a totally different design.

Another big difference between them is the power source.

The Gently Silken is rechargeable which is convenient whereas the Epi Slim is also convenient but it’s battery operated. You can use it while plugged in or use it anywhere once it’s fully charged

It’s handy for traveling but it only comes with a 110v psu.  If planning on using this outside of North America, you would need to purchase a separate voltage adapter.

This is suitable for removing hair from the arms, legs, bikini line and face although reports on how well it works on the face are mixed.

Some people have used it to remove that annoying facial peach fuzz and are happy with the results. On the other hand, others say it doesn’t work well for this. Furthermore, Emjoi only recommends using it on stray hairs.

It is more powerful than a battery operated device so if the face is your focus, you might want to look at the Emjoi e18.

This is still a decent epilator but, in reality, there are better models comparatively priced on the market. If you don’t mind a corded epilator – have a look at the Emjoi eRase 60. Alternatively, check out the rechargeable Emagine (purple).

Emjoi Seal Epilator: 2 in 1 Hair Removal and Micro-Pedi Callous Remover

emjoi seal epilator
Emjoi Seal With Callous Remover
  • This is a 42 tweezer head epilator and the only waterproof model from Emjoi.
  • It’s for wet or dry use so you can use it in the shower which is really convenient.  It must be charged up to use it on dry skin as it doesn’t work while plugged in.
  • It features the glide technology for hair removal without irritation and you can use it all over the body.

One of the interesting things about this epilator is the additional callous remover. This can only be used on dry skin by the way.

The heads are interchangeable so its great value if you are looking for beautiful feet as well as a smooth and hair free body. It doesn’t appear to be as popular as other Emjoi epilators but overall, the reviews are positive. This is a great invention, not to mention a brilliant cost saver. At the same time, it takes the hassle out of manually rubbing or filing feet which can take ages!

Emjoi e84 eRase Dual Opposed 84 Tweezer-Head Epilator

Emjoi eRase e84

Although the e84 epilator has the largest number of tweezers I’ve found with 84, it is the Emagine or AP 18 model that is much more popular than this one.

This Emjoi epilator is corded, but only comes with a 110V. The Emagine, on the contrary, has a worldwide power cord.

The technology again is multi-patented. You’ve got the dual opposed rotating head designed for comfort not to mention the larger head designed for faster epilation. The body is thinner and a little longer than the Emagine which looks more robust than this one, although the e84 has a couple of color options which are pretty.

A sensitivity cap is included which covers up some of the tweezer discs for more comfortable epilation on delicate areas. Conversely, this is not included with the Emagine 18. You could use the epilator on the bikini area without it but honestly, it is advisable to use it, at least when you first get started.  It gives more control over the area and I can’t imagine there could be anything worse than going full on with 84 tweezers in this highly sensitive area – ouch!

This may well do a decent job on the whole, but the Emagine is by far the popular choice.

Which Emjoi Epilator Is The Best One For Me?

In the long run, choosing the best epilator comes down to your individual needs. There are a few things worth considering nonetheless and giving some thought to the following factors will help you to choose the most suitable device.

  • Face or Total Body? Are you looking for the best Emjoi epilator for the face or are you looking for one device that will remove hair all over?
  • Corded or Rechargeable? Are you happy to have a corded device? You’ll get consistent power while you are using it. On the other hand, perhaps there isn’t an electrical outlet where you would like to use your epilator and a chargeable one is preferable for convenience.
  • Wet and Dry? Does it matter if you can use it in the shower?
  • Portability – Do you need to take it traveling? USA or International?
  • Any Extras – What else comes with the epilator? Is there a shaver?
  • Budget and Value – Do you want the best overall or what will your budget allow?
